This was my thought as well. To me this screams of someone thinking they found a pile of metal they can sell to a scrap recycler.

I got mugged for my Chinese takeaway once but they never considered taking the phone in my hand.
Garden variety robbers ain't clever.

The sad thing is that if all this was in boxes , they probably took it after looking for a few seconds and thinking it was jewellery. It's probably been dumped or smashed by now :/

I'd be surprised if that was the case. Who see's toy soldiers and thinks of scrap metal, especially when a lot were plastic?

In a quick opportunistic snatch and grab anything goes because even low value items add up when sold onto a fence. From the amount of stuff taken though it sounds like the thief had a bit of time to grab quite a lot. They went for the obvious potentially high value items and also took a shit load of models that even to someone not in the know might look like they could be of value or at least easy to pass on. It would be interesting to know whether Steve's studio was cleared out completely or if they just grabbed what they could easily handle. I'd assume they had a car. I doubt the 'just a junkie' line.

There are definitely targeted burglaries going on in the model making world. Here in SE England, over the past 3-4 years, there have been a number. Victims tend to be successful modellers with a higher profile than most; some kits, tools and paints taken, but completed models and dioramas cleared out and obviously the target of the theft.

might be worth remembering that in the UK Everyone knows someone that does warhammer and we all know ,through friends or family, that it's expensive. Maybe it's going to join lego as the criminal currency of choice, something which at the bery least keeps value when kept in good condition and will always have a market?

Unless someone nicked a copy of Dreadfleet.  ;)

Anyway, any updates on the case?

See even dreadfleet , a game no one really raved over, Sells consistently on ebay for near retail if it's unopened.
And if you've knicked it and can shift it quickly and consistently for £20, you don't really care whether it's for retail or not.

I know it's getting off topic but when I was trying to shift my spare copies it really didn't look like it had held it's value at all. Still stuck with one copy.

Anyway, what part of the UK is Steve in and is it possible to search Ebay by region or city? Just wondering whether any searches for listings have been done just to see.
