The Trent Affair - Devon Wargames Group
« on: 21 January 2018, 07:52:21 PM »
The second of our four games at this month's club meeting was an "ACW What If?" supposing a British Intervention Force had cooperated with the Confederacy using the rules, 'Pickett's Charge'.

If you would like to know more then just follow the link to the club blog.

There are stevedores and then there are steves-a-lot.

Good looking game but the British troops seem somewhat anachronistic - some seem more Napoleonic others more Sikh Wars era.  Perhaps should be Crimean era.  But, heck, ignore my opinion cause I really don't know that much about the periods (not the ACW, that I know pretty well).   Not that, in the end, it matters.  Nice looking, fun game?  Then a success regardless.

Thanks for the comments, it was a fun game and had the added bonus of allowing us the chance to have a good moan at whatever rules we are playing  , after all that's why we really go .

As the game organiser isn’t on this forum he has asked me to reply, the British figures were ordered from Lancashire games Crimean range and had been painted up accordingly. I cannot tell you any more than but they do look a bit Napoleonic-y to me as well however after looking at three manufacturers sites they appear to be more or less correct . If you would like to see British Sikh Wars figures then stay tuned for early Feb when one of the games being played at Devon Wargames will be my recently completed 20mm Anglo-Sikh armies using some mostly made up rules written on 5 pieces of A4 ( single sided in big print).

Let’s just say I am expecting some feedback from the players.
