Eisenhorn!
« on: 29 January 2018, 10:17:43 PM »
Takes a lot to get me excited about most GW stuff these day but man did I love these books.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

That is, a really GOOD Inquisitor.

Those books were terrific for giving us insight into the 40K setting off of the battlefield, Abnett's a talented writer when it comes to gaming fiction.  Pretty good at comics and general scifi, too

That certainly is a lovely sculpt, although he's being depicted pretty young.

I'm not usually into all that newfangled stuff GW puts out, but this would be a certain exception. Eisenhorn, together with Draco, really shaped non-battlefield 40K, as mentioned... 8)

So is that going to be a commercial figure or is it a conversion?

It's a commercial figure... in resin. It will be released with an upcoming new novel (as part of a Black Library celebration).

It's a good sculpt with lots of detail but I don't think the pose is doing it justice because his head looks quite big and his legs being hidden away don't help.

Expect it to be around £20 when it is released...

It is a GW figure: the head is too big (as are the hands and feet) and the legs are too short,  just as they always are. True proportion is something they abandoned when they started putting slots on figures instead of bases.

Some GW sculpts are worse than others. This is worse than others.

Sorry but on the whole this isn't accurate.

The vast majority of wargames figures have skewed proportions. Often deliberately. This is nothing new for GW and it preceeds slotta bases.

In fact I would go so far as saying they were as bad if not worse in some cases.

Artel W appear to have been issued with some sort of cease & desist notice from GW, but for a few more days you should be able to get their take on absolutely-not-Eisenhorn (& a bunch of others) before they stop selling gthem.

Love the novels but this figure doesn't do anything for me.  He looks like he is stumbling and he has fat melon.  The pose is really awkward.  It reminds me of the, Bad Commissar" from the 7th ed box set and makes me wonder if they sculpted all those details on to a blank of that figure.  I can think of a third party model that does a much better job.  I will definitely be interested in the new book though.  I was hoping they would continue the Bequin Triogy but this is something else.  I'll take it though!

add: Shame they got hit with a C&D as it was a good figure.  Turned it from something I was looking at and considering to a click-buy.
