Philadelphia Associators
« on: 26 February 2018, 04:17:58 AM »
Mounted Philly Associators slog their way down a rain swollen road.
I wanted something different for my Philly Troop and decided on a muddy road scenerio. These are the results.
This was a very difficult project. It required patience, which is something I am generally in short supply of. There was a lot of overnight drying and touching up. And more touching up. And even more touching up, until it looked right to me.
The bases are resin castings of roads and rivers, made by a guy on TMP, who's name I cannot recall.
The figures are stock Perry castings, painted by the talented Pep Dominguez. The flag is GMB. All of the terrain work was done by me. I took a lot of pix because there are 3 separate pieces.
It's not easy to get "mud" to look right. A lot of hours went into these pieces. I'm satisfied with them.

Wow, mud never looked so good! That is incredibly lifelike. The paint jobs on those associators is great also.

Nice paint jobs and terrain work.

Please, what is the source for painting the red jackets?

The uniforms are brown. They do look red in the pix. No idea why?

Curious - because in the pics the horsehair crest, the blanket roll, the saddle blanket, and the jacket all came out red.  If they are all brown and came out red the primary culprit would be the lighting and its color temperature and possibly camera settings.  Very odd.

Yeah, I'm not a good photographer. No idea what I did wrong.

Maybe it was the Automatic Color Corrector?
The painter used a brown tone with red in it, rather than full brown tone.

Anyway, I'm considering going over the coats with a richer brown color.

Is the base handmade?

The bases are resin cast by a hobbyist from his original molds. He hand pours each piece, so I guess you can say that they are handmade.
As far as I know he doesn't have a company or anything. He occasionally lists his resin castings on TMP in the
"for sale" section. That's how I got them.

Sorry, that I can be more specific.
