Change Display Username?
« on: March 01, 2018, 04:34:30 AM »
Help!

When I first created an account here I used the name Featherstone as a reference to a character in a book and my name on another site -- not realizing that there is already a far greater and more renowned Featherstone in this hobby! (I confess I'm still learning a thing or two... drawbacks of being a wargamer under 21 y.o.) I'd hate to usurp the name, but there doesn't seem to be an option to change it!

Is there a way to change the username? Or would I need to create a new account?

People have had their names changed in the past on the old site. Not sure how it works on the new software, but in the past I believe one had to get in touch with somebody with admin powers (the Prof back in the day) and get them to do it for you.

Though I don't think anyone is going to object to your username as it is, most would probably see it as a tribute. And nobody is going to think you are trying to impersonate Mr. Featherstone, as I am afraid he has sailed these shores and passed beyond the veil, as it were.

Thank you, sir; and to be fair nobody’s said anything about the moniker thus far. Already I respect the community here quite a lot, both in work and demeanor. Here’s hoping most see it as you do.

Perhaps I’ll leave it for now and just go read all of his works instead.
