What “time” is the forum on?
« on: March 24, 2018, 08:53:28 AM »
Currently (8.51, Saturday, 24th March) the forum seems to have anticipated BST by some hours.

Isn't it just that it's still on CET?

Pretty sure it always has been an hour ahead because the Prof is German, and I'm betting Nick hasn't changed things since taking over as captain.

That’ll probably be the explanation⏱

It's displaying GMT for me, just as it always has. You can change it in your settings, anyway, if you want.

Can you? Nearly ten years I've been coming here and I never knew that! I've always just known what the time was in Germany!  :D

As I recall there is a plus/minus 1 hour button, so you just have to figure out where your own time zone sits compared to CET. I don't recall ever actually doing that, though. I thought it had happened automatically.

Edit: Of course, I have been here a long time, I may have just forgotten doing it.  :)

You can set your local time as an offset to the standard time determined by the server the forum is run on.

To configure your time offset, click on the "Profile" link on top, then "Modify Profile" followed by "Look and Layout".

Click on "auto detect" to match the time offset you your local ISP's time zone. If you do not receive, after an automatic page refresh, a green "Profile Changed" message on top of the profile settings, you may have to save the changes manually by clicking the "change profile" button on the bottom right.
