Timing/use of mystic powers
« on: March 25, 2018, 02:32:12 PM »
Hello chaps.

Played first game yesterday... Quality!

Was wondering about the use of mystic powers. I understand usage is limited to the phase as mentioned in the powers list. Although when in the phase do you use it? Before the main action then complete the move/shoot, after the main action or do you wait till the end of the phase when all have finished the phase.

It also mentioned that some mystic powers replace the actions... Which powers are they referring to?

Thanks in advance

Mystical powers happen when you activate the figure using it.

3.2.6 MYSTICAL POWERS
Some Mystical Powers (7.0) can only be used in the Movement Phase.
A figure can use such a Power only at the beginning or at the end of its movement because it has to stand still for a moment and concentrate.

3.3.8 MYSTICAL POWERS
Some Mystical Powers (7.0) can only be used in the Shooting Phase.
A Power may enhance the figure’s Shooting, count as a Shooting attack in its own right, or require the figure to forgo any Shooting attack in order to achieve some other effect.

3.4.5 MYSTICAL POWERS
Some Mystical Powers (7.0) can only be used in the Fighting Phase.
Such a Power may, enhance the figure’s Fighting, count as a Fighting attack in its own right, or require the figure to forgo any Fighting attack in order to achieve some other effect.

Clouding Men’s Minds [Shooting] The Mystic can still shoot in this phase.
Dragon Breath [Fighting] This counts as an attack so the caster cannot also fight.
Dragon Talons [Fighting] This enhances the Mystic's attack, so the Mystic can still make a fighting attack.
Dragon Wings [Movement] The Mystic can still move in this phase. If they move after casting on themselves then they can fly.
Eye of Odin [Shooting] This enhances the Mystic's attack, so the Mystic can still make a shooting attack.
Feet of Lead [Movement] The Mystic can still move in this phase.
Harden [Shooting / Fighting] This enhances the Mystic's armour, so the Mystic can still make an attack.
Levitate [Movement] The Mystic can still move in this phase. If they move after casting on themselves then they can levitate.
Mask of Imhotep [Movement / Fighting] The Mystic can still act in this phase.
Mesmerism [Movement] The Mystic can still move in this phase.
Spitfire [Shooting] This replaces the Mystic's shooting attack.
Strengthen [Fighting] This enhances the Mystic's attack, so the Mystic can still make an attack.
The Path of Light [Movement] The Mystic can still move in this phase.
The Path of Shadows [Movement] This replaces the Mystic's normal move.
True Grit [Any phase] This enhances the Mystic's pluckr, so the Mystic can still move or make an attack.
Venom [Fighting] This enhances the Mystic's armour, so the Mystic can still make an attack.
Water Bullets [Shooting] The Mystic can still make a shooting attack.
Zone of Shadows [Shooting] The Mystic can still make a shooting attack, but is hampered by the shadows.

I have a related question. Are mystical powers such as Clouding Men’s Minds applied to a single character or is there a mass effect?

Clouding men's minds; No-one can get a clear view of the Mystic to Shoot at him unless they are in base-to-
base contact with him.

So yes, it is a mass effect.

Thank you for the reply. I was so excited to see this forum, I posted my question before I had a chance to reread the actual rule which is clear enough.
