317th Platoon, French Indo-China War film
« on: 11 August 2018, 02:36:19 PM »
I just saw the 1965 film 317th Platoon, about a French-led Cambodian platoon ordered to retreat in 1954, while the siege of Dien Bien Phu was underway. It is playing in New York City through Wednesday. Harrowing, well photographed and well-acted, I highly recommend it.

The writer/director was captured at Dien Bien Phu.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

That's pretty cool.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.
