Yes, I know it's not very historical 🙂
To celebrate finishing my last ancient army, the Assyrians, I decided to have a chariot-fest and pit them against New Kingdom Egyptians with allied Hittites.
The Assyrians had a high quality army with 2 units of veteran chariots (lance/bow) (2 of the generals), 2 units of veteran cavalry lance/bow armed, some cart mounted bowmen, 3 units of heavy infanty (spear/bow armed), 2 units of medium infantry, and couple of units of light bowmen.
Facing them, the Egyptians had 2 commands each with 2 chariots, spearmen, bowmen, light javelinment, and a third Hittite command of 2 chariots (with lance), spearmen & light infantry. They had flank march as a stratagem,
It was a bad evening for Egypt. In spite of setting up numerous chances with loads of shooting, rear attacks, you name it, the Assyrians shrugged everything off and ploughed through the Egyptians like a wolf on the fold.
