Elizabethan Ireland Project
«

Hi all, I have posted a couple of updates on here with regard to my Elizabethan Ireland project. It occured to me however that I might be better havign just one thread to tie the project together a bit like others have done on here so goign to give it a go. I am part way through already so if you want to catch up on some of the previous stuff check my blog here and look at the those posts marked Elizabethan.
https://gapagnw.blogspot.com/2018/06/elizabethan-irish.html
All that said you may have to bear with my photography its not as good as some others I have seen on here. Anyway, just pickd up one each of the Perrys Irish and the first couple are painted so they may as well be the first images I share. I do like the Gallowglass. The will be on their way to the basing department in due course.

They look rather tasty
I'm assuming they match the Claymore stuff for height and heft ?

They do yes, they are also not far off in terms of style. I will do a comparison shot later Romark. I also have some other makes, heres the last lot I sent to the basing department last week. These are Claymore and Crusader mainly.

I like those a lot, especially the understated saffrons.
I am familiar with the Claymore figures but not the Crusader ones. I shall have to check them out.
Looking forward to following this with interest, not least since I need to add to my WotR Irish for the battle of Morimers Cross.

Thanks Hu Rhu, will have some Kern in Saffron up bery shortly and will do a proper photo shoot (kind of) when the based figures all get back from the basing department in a week or two.
Might also do a post on the blog at that point as should have at least a couple of dozen figures per side to share.

Next painted for the Irish, 4 Perry's Kern. I have used slightly darker colours for the Safron as most of the rest are quite a bit lighter and I ant some variation. Not the best photography sorry.

Once I have all the painted figures back from the basing department I will do a blog post with a load more pictures and narrative.
I also got 15 Elizabethan Pike today, all foundry the chunky swashbucklers range, they will fit really well with the graven images pike. I have to apologise to the bloke I bought them from for a conjunction f technical incompetance. Not only was I changing banks so the payment took longer than it should, I am also having difficulties with ebay so I cant leave feedback or contact sellers, I couldnt even apologise to him.
I will add these to the blog as well.

Inspiring figures & painting. Have you decided what rule system are going to use for this project? I have long-term intentions myself to wargame the Nine Years War 1594-1603 (though prob in 15mm) and your project is good encouragement .

I am thinking of using Pikemans lament, although I also have Sharply buffed in my back pocket. I think these company sized games are a better fit for most of the fighting through the period.

A few more of the Perry's Irish Kern. I have to admit to being really pleased with how these figures are coming out. The Perry's have made a cracking job of them. English comign shortly.

Very nice work on these, and good to see how the various ranges mix. There's something about the aesthetics of this period that just makes them really rather appealing, and your nicely muted colours fit them well.
