The two dragons look amazing, very well done,  I may reconsider my plan to not have any fantasy elements in my GOT armies, mine are pretty much reflecting the armies of the war of the five kings before the red wedding and the birth of the dragons. Might mean my wargaming opponent may huff and puff a bit about goblins, orcs and wizards and not real wargaming, but they are my toyys so ill have what I want  lol

Update:

This weekend I decided to start building the whole of Westeros...that is all *

Basically I’m going to build a campaign board to track the movements of the various Houses - as you can see it will be 4’ x 2’ and will sit alongside my games table. I did think about a more high-tech solution - Knight-Captain Tyr has demonstrated what can be achieved using map software, but I like the idea of a map relief similar to the one that sits in Dragonstone.

I’m not aiming for an exact replica, mine will have colour for starters, and I’ll probably only represent the Houses that I’m planning on gaming, otherwise the entire southern half of the map will just be a sea of towers.

* considerably smaller than the 10’ long aircraft carrier I built, so relatively speaking this is actually quite a sensible idea when you think about it.

:o Gotta say, didn't expect that! Definitely looking forward to seeing this progress

What's the map itself carved from? That must've taken ages to get the coastline accurate!

The map is 10mm blue foam used for underfloor insulation, just carved with a scalpel.

I freehanded the coastline on a big piece of paper, laid it over the top of the foam and just cut through the paper....took 15 mins or so.

There is a certain degree of interpretation with the islands...the shapes vary from the maps in the books, to the World of Fire & Ice etc. Not every little speck has made it onto the map yet, and I can always add a bit more texture to the coastline in the next stage.

Mountains will be carved from blue foam, and be impassable other than via a road. The limited number of roads in Westeros makes for an interesting campaign - the importance of river crossings such as the Twins is obviously clear, and of choke points such as Moat Cailin - and clearly having a fleet gives a real mobility advantage.

That’s a really great idea. Oh the temptation to make teeny tiny units and pin them to their respective places on the map  :D
My LAF Gallery is HERE

On the basis I’ve no idea who Mel is I doubt it...unless it’s by coincidence
  ;) :D

That’s a really great idea. Oh the temptation to make teeny tiny units and pin them to their respective places on the map  :D

Trying to resist that temptation...was thinking of either Shield counters or possibly flags for units, but tiny weeny troops is a possibility as well.

I can confirm there will be lots of tiny castles, or towers dotted all over it.

 :)
