District 9

Well it seems Peter Jackson is releasing an interesting movie this summer- District 9
http://www.d-9.com/
It looks a little alien nation like, but with a dark/aparthied twist. Does anyone know more?

Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly

Ah, I saw the trailer for this the other day, but forgot all about it (drunk, see).

Alien nation was the first thing that popped into my head as well. Could be good, as I really liked that film, could be bad, as the TV series was distinctly ropey.

Is Jackson just exec. producing this?

I think so. The movie is directed by Neill Blomkamp… whoever that is…

Looks intriguing, but.....

Fingers crossed (as usual with Hollywood SciFi) ::)

A NZ producer,  South African director and shoot location in South Africa is not really very hollywood.

I do beg your pardon. "Big-screen" SciFi  ;)

The bigger the budget, the bigger the disappointment (usually).

i thought most of the accents sounded south african, but didn't want to say just in case I proved myself to be ignorant!
I've just read that this website has been up a while now and hasn't been updated for a few months, and no one seems to really know too much about it.

I blame it all on film students. They should be kicking hollywoods bum with low cost content, insted most of em would not know what a good indie flick was if it ran up and bit em yet orgasm over the transformers movie. May all time fave film student quote is "I dont watch anything pre starwars as they didn't make good movies before then."  :o

Didn't a film shot for forty quid just set cannes on fire? Something from the POV of a zombie iirc...

If you look for "colin zombie movie" on google you get a load of news reports. Didn't know about it and it definately looks low budget (hello! ;)) but of course I have to see it now 8)

The Peter Jackson preview has given me an idea as to how to fill my Future War Table with buildings and still be able to store it and move it for a Demo game .
A Squatter camp . 8)

I've started collecting long thin boxes from work which I intend to cover in corrugated card which should do double duty as both terrain and storage units . Well hopefully as its just a concept at the moment .

Just to say I've checked the website again and there's a new preview, it looks really cool, and has got lots of ideas floating around for future wars games, can't wait for the film.:
