They are wonderful!

But, they are Perry - so no surprises  ;)

I can't wait to see the mounted troops  ;D

Although it's great to see these painted pics, I can't seem to find anything on the Perry website  :?

Is there any info there hidden away somewhere?

I would have thought that their release was imminent and would be better publicized. Oh well.

There was a news story on TMP the other day saying they'd be available by the end of the week. I guess they've fallen behind a tad.

In the same press release they said they're also releasing the small Mafeking range they did for that Ian Hislop documentary a couple of years ago, as so many people asked for them.

Ah, thanks. I don't often visit TMP these days. Perhaps I should do.

I've seen the Mafeking civvies and very useful they will be too  :)

They appear to be the earlier Snider-Enfield which would be correct for Indian troops in the 1880s.

Ah! Of course! Thanks.
Well, I'll be having to get some of these. Awesome stuff indeed.

Very true!

BTW, I will be posting Perry/Redoubt Fuzzy Wuzzy comparison pics later today, after I worked out why my camera wasn't working properly. The camera was fine, the operator malfunctioned  ::)  lol

What is the headgear the second lot are wearing?

Well they're either the 15th Bengal Native Infantry (Loodhiania Sikhs), the 17th Bengal Native Infantry (Loyal Purbeah), the 28th Bombay Native Infantry (2nd Baluch), or the Queen's Own Madras Sappers and Miners.

We can rule out the 15th Bengal, as they're the Sikhs in the first photo. Of the others, I have a photo of the 28th Bombay at Suakin, and the uniforms match other than the turbans (they're wearing those gaiters rather than puttees for one thing). Those things on their heads aren't Baluch turbans like the ones worn in the photo, though. They don't look like turbans at all to me. I'm wondering if they're some kind of cover that goes over the turbans? ???

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to hand of the other two Indian Army units involved, only the 15th and the 28th.

.... or the Queen's Own Madras Sappers and Miners.

Speaking as an ex-Sapper, that would be a very good choice if that is what they turn out to be!
There are very few specific Sapper figures available for Colonial gaming, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
You can, of course use basic infantry figures as proxies, but it just doesn't feel right to me.
