WS Trees Part 2
«
on:

This is the first batch of improved Woodlands Scenics plastic tree armatures.
The method used in making these is listed in part one.
I varied the washes a bit to give different shades to the various trunks. No two trees are exactly the same color in nature. I thinned the basic black wash with water for lighter tones and used full strength for a darker bark look.
The next dozen are drying.

I put some green on the branches of the Woodlands Scenics tree armatures that I coated in my modelling paste mixture. I used pieces of seafoam flocked with some Noch leaves to attach to the tree trunk.
These last two photos show some Birch trees I am making. They are simple twisted wire armatures, covered in the paste. The bare tree was painted white.
I'll tone down the white with a thin brown wash and then put in dark speckles with a fine point magic marker. After that, I'll add some branches with leaves. You can see the finished product right next to the bare tree.

As someone taking part in the Build Something Contest I'm seeing if I can emulate this, at least a little.
Thanks for sharing - love the depth they have.
