Since Empress were kind enough to continue using this thread to post pre-release pics and infos plus release news, it changed somehow and was thus labelled "COMMERCIAL".

I'm liking that a lot. I'd be most grateful if you wouldn't mind adding info here. If I ever had the money I wanted to commission a Paul Hicks' Vietnam range. Now it's actually happening!

Nice. The M16 could do with some improvement. The fairly prominent cocking handle at the rear of the receiver appears to be absent, the stock appears too high and rather bulky and the foregrips could do with some work. The figure is of Mr Hick’s typical high standards but the weapon is rather crude. A little disappointing in light of his previous work on the Red Star/ FNG Indochina range.

Admittedly I’m more interested in seeing PAVN figures. Promising start but could be improved.

I don't personally mind if the weapons are bulked out a little for robustness. As much as I like my Spectre miniatures, the firearms are very fragile. I'd rather have a little exaggeration and not have to worry about gluing stuff back on (although it is the stock you specifically referenced, which granted, is unlikely to fall off). Accuracy is great, but I'm not going to be put off if it's not an exact scale replica.

I do not think any of us are (I have written off all the Law Men from the Spectre starter set before they got painted).

I think what Carlos is describing is not the barrel, but have a look at the stock.

The stock certainly looks rather high (the cocking handle has been eaten by the stock!).

The figure certainly looks good.

I’m not talking about bulk. I think we all recognise the trade-off between scale accuracy and fragility. What I’m talking about is shape and detail. Recognisable features on the original. Perfectly possible to incorporate without diminishing the robustness of the model.

I still dig the figure, but as pointed out the stock is to high and has swallowed the charging handle.
Good eye on catching that.

The stock is off, should be easy to fix.
Love the figure, down to the flak vest.
Man, I hated wearing them.

Yes, I did point out that it was the stock that was being specifically referenced by Carol and that it was unlikely to break off (on this particular figure). It was more of a general comment regarding sacrificing a little accuracy for robustness with weapons. It is a fair point on the position of the stock. I hadn't actually noticed the missing charging handle until it was mentioned.
