Biomech Overlord Kickstarter (xeno/cthulhu)
« on: 31 March 2019, 08:43:04 PM »

As well as running Meridian Miniatures for over 6 years I have been involved in the wider miniatures hobby in my spare time. In fact I have been collecting miniatures for almost 3 decades at this point. This year I am planning to use Kickstarter to help me realise all sorts of Miniatures that I have wanted to own for years. I am able to create them but I need the support of the miniatures community to make this financially viable. The first figure that I have sculpted for this collection is the Biomech Overlord.
This figure stands at roughly 70mm, a towering amalgam of my sci-fi influences. From Lovecraft to Giger to Asian statuary and classic wargaming miniatures. The four armed figure is cast in resin and is supplied with two heads to chose from, an alien mastermind or a Cthulhu inspired visage.

Go to the campaign to see more pictures and details https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2004599158/biomech-overlord-miniature?ref=user_menu

Many thanks
Andrew

I’ve had a few requests for scale shots and I must admit that like a fool I didn’t get any “proper” pictures before I cut the figure up for casting! I did luckily take a couple of pics for my friend to send via SMS, thankfully I’ve pulled them off of my phone!

Here the big guy is alongside a couple of converted GW figures (originally a Stormcast Eternal/Poxwalker).

Pledged. Always wanted a more dynamic version of a certain seated guy I have.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd drop by to share a shot of the parts that the figure comes in. Being such a large figure required and cast in resin required the piece to be cut into multiple pieces (this also allows the figure to go into a small package, giving you free postage!). My cutting technique combined with the caster’s expertise means the figure will go together perfectly while giving the converters out there plenty of scope for personalisation!

The project is now funded, thanks to all the LAFers that have come on board!

Sp does it come with both heads or do we choose. I know which I'll use.

Oh and what other old school minis are you planning on paying tribute to.

Backed, either as a leader for the Genestealer cultists I seem to be acculumating, or as a cthulu leader for more contemporary cultists.

Looking forward to seeing what other figures you come up with :)

It comes with both.

There’s loads of different minis I want to make from all kinds of genres, that why KS is an ideal platform, it’s not really a cohesive “range”.

I’ve had a couple of comments on forums that the presentation of the figures was too dark. Luckily I took some pictures with a white backdrop before sending it to the casters. Let me know if you prefer the “look” this way.

Just a quick bump to say thank you everyone and remind anyone that's on the fence that there's 48hrs left to pledge.  8)

Can't believe I missed this, is there any way of still picking one of these up Andrew?

Only just came across this as I don't frequent this board much, a lovely looking creature Andrew. Good luck with the Kickstarter. ;D
