LOVE that second one. The miniatures are super, the paintjobs rock, the background is fantastic...it all clicks together perfectly. Although I don't know what the first entry's about, it does look nice. Nice miniatures and the flag is a nice addition too. Are they 20mm?

@Maleblgia: Yes, they're 20mm :)  I meant to say in the title when I sent the entry to Captain Blood, but completely forgot!  The Canon is from Sgts Mess and is a 20mm metal figure.  The other four are plastic 1/72 Ceaser from their 'Partisans in Europe' set.  The standard bearer is trivial convertion from a chap throwing a grenade and the flag I knocked up on the computer.

I shall be using them for my 20mm 1938BCW games :)

I see from the voting, though, that I'm not the only one that thinks Overlord's Egyptians are quite nice ;)

Nice work gentlemen
The 20mm Canon from Sgts Mess is a nice figure, though in my game he's a Professor.

Great idea MCS :)  I've got a couple more.  One with a greenstuff bow-tie would look very professorial! :)

The Cairo Mob is really nice, although the photo could be a little brighter.  Given the degree of highlighting on their clothing, I keep looking for (and missing) equal highlighting on the fezzes.  Without it, it's hard to appreciate the overall figure.

The militia are neat, but they're screaming out 1/72 to me, and I have a hard time appreciating that scale.  Also, I would think that a militia unit would have more varied clothing colors.  (Or, at least, the one I'm painting right now does.  :))

Good potential in the first entry, however, the flag needs to be fixed...far to stiff or it was starched too much. The Cairo Mob look great. Nice shading and details...nasty looking fellas you wouldn't want to meet in a back alley!!

Thanks for the feedback Mancha :)  Not sure what I could do about the scale since four of them are 1/72 and the other is a 20mm figure! ;)

It wasn't an easy choice between too much variety in their clothing and making them look like a cohesive unit on the tabletop.  I think I have erred a little towards giving them a similar look, but even though I'm pulling 1 vote for every 10 of Overlord's I'm still excitied about getting this little unit into a 1938 game! :D

Yeah, you got me on that one Hitman :)  I had a draped flag texture all lined up to overlay on it and I completely forgot about it until after the entry deadline!! D'oh!

I struggled slightly with the photo as I was in a hurry, about to go away on business for the 5 days running up to the weekly deadline.  I also realised then that the fezzes lacked a bit of definiton.  It was too late by then to rectify it (I have since done so).  As it was, the miniatures were barely dry.

Or possibly adversaries for Dr Jones, forced to lurk in the shadows..... ::)

Thats the great thing about the LPL.  I have painted entries that had (& would probably have continued to have) sat around for far too long.  Every entry this time around is from my lead mountain, not one miniature bought for the competition.  That was the original intention of the Prof (unless I am very much mistaken), to increase the number of painted miniatures.  Regardless of relative painting abilities, we all end up with lots more finished toys.  :D
