Tick Attack!

A few weeks back there was a post on TMP about a new release, Tick miniatures from Mississinewa Miniatures ( http://www.missminiatures.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi ). Being a weird guy  :grin:  I knew they are something I could use for my Factory project. So a small order was made, I removed the tags from the models and based them 1 eurocent coins. I wanted a basic brown paintjob with some patterning. In the end all 17 got a different pattern  ::







Decided to not use grass for them as the bases are small and it would dominate. The 2 browns are maybe a tad too close but I didn't want my ticks to be too black, so they have 2 shades of brown, mixed with brown wash and a shiney gloss coat. I'm quite happy with them, and I'm thinking about ordering a few more packs.

But I felt I was missing something, so decided to make a few egg clusters. Based on 2 cent coins, they didn't cost me anything as they come from my tins with the round fishing weights I use for weighting flight bases and aircraft. Simple, yet effective, they will double as dino egs. Or a mushroom patch

They will do fine as swarms for certain areas, moving like zombies....though like real ticks, you'd be amazed how fast they can be!

No, seeing the models reminded me of the visits I have made to the hopsital to have big red circle on my leg examined that grew daily after having removed a tick (which turned out not to be Lyme, but they could not tell me what it was either). So I want to shoot the buggers, and what better locale then my Factory project setting (Think Chernobyl).

I literally felt my skin crawl just looking at these.

Looking at the real thing under the microscope will make your skin crawl, they're transparent and looking at their internal organs made me itchy. I've never been a victim but a coworker got three of the buggers on his legs. Just tuck your trousers into your socks when walking through fields where sheep or deer have been, and keep the TCP handy!

the fun thing about them is that they will try to get to the warmest spots on your body. So think, groin, armpits and your head. I got them all the time when I was a kid and when I was in the service. just do a once over and take a bath when ever you get out of the sticks and you should do fine.
