The homemade cam on the Sten bloke is a really nice touch, I've read that the SASR sometimes made really effective camouflage by flicking black paint on green uniforms, I'm currently searching for photos.
I'm thinking I should have done the same camo on the bloke with the RPD, he's got some super details on him (extra pockets on sleeves etc) that are a bit hidden by the tiger stripes, oh well... I'd be very interested to see any pics you find of SASR blokes, I've got a few, but none of DIY camo.
I had considered to use the Recon models too.
I did end up getting a bunch of Vietnam Anzac instead - With a little head and weapon swap, I think they'll work great as more indigs for a SOG RT
Ordered another pack of the recon blokes earlier. Empress had it in the post in just over two hours, can't get better than that.
Might have a go at adding the extra pockets to a couple, then the spray paint camo. Probably add the medic to the Seal team.
How did you do the the bamboo and large plants?
Is that the Chinese bamboo that you get on Ebay?
Spot on, the bamboo came from China, pre Covid. Had it sitting in a box of wierd looking green plastic stuff I picked up from various sellers (could all be from the same factory) on eBay a couple of years ago. Got a couple of different sizes (lengths), I think I prefer the bigger sized 'plants' as the pole bit has a wire running through it and less flash that the shorter options.
Painting them was fairly straight forward.
I painted all of them with Vallejo 'NATO green primer; 'Ochre Brown' for the bamboo pole bit (any mustard yellow would do 'Japan Uniform' etc), a wash of dark green all over, then lightly dry brushed the leaves with the Ocher. The broad leaf plants I used a few different shades of green + the ocher, kept it fairly well thinned down and let the colours run into each other a bit, then a wash of any darkish green.
