Who makes decent drow/dark elf of the D&D kind?
« on: 28 May 2019, 08:15:21 AM »
I am looking for some drow/dark leves with a mix of melee weapons & x-bows, are there any decent ones out there?

Obviously Otherworld makes three or four sets, and they do look the part. (I also like their brigands...among others), in an old school way. The prices are a bit steep though (but that hasn't stopped me from buying them in the past).

I dont like WFB style elves for this job, they look too 'military' plus I think I already have a couple plastic ones already. I know Reaper does have a couple odd ones, but that's it?

You can often pick up the old Citadel ones quite cheaply on eBay. They're nice figures and much less spiky-looking than the ones from recent decades.

There are a few preslotta ones left here; they're not that cheap at a fiver a pop, but once you factor in free postage, they're not too bad. Also, this seller has some of the first slottabased range at cheap starting prices. It might be worth a few speculative bids.

Those two ranges mix together fine; and the old cold-one riders are great. I've been gradually amassing some, and I've generally just paid about £3 a figure for them.

I remember those, used to have a couple back in the day.... seems like there's not much available, and drow don't seem that popular? I think it's easiest to cave in and order them Otherworld ones, they look the part, and I can always use the vouchers system for discount...

I would also check the Copplestone's ex-Grenadier Dark Elves, now produced by Battlezone:

Thanks Rotorcraft, those might work. I might get some x-bowers at least and one or two swordsmen. The prices certainly aren't bad either.

I think RAFM do some Dark Elves as well.
