Terrific sculpts again from Matt Bickley,I don't collect Dark Age minis but these may tempt me especially if he creates more for this range

Blimey! I didn't know I needed more Huscarles for my Anglo-Saxons! Well, at least they won't finish their current stint in Byzantium until later in the year. I need to collect the taxes from my peasants before I can afford to recruit them into my retinue!

Wow, I really love those guys! I'm not sure I need them for Dark Ages, but I think they'd make excellent Dale/Lake Towners for Middle-Earth. I may get some just for that...

I love them, although I think they will be a little bit smaller scale wise than the upcoming Victrix late Saxons.
Atleast that is what I think when comparing Claymore Castings Early HYW (same sculptor) and plastic Victrix Vikings.

Exceptional. Bickley Minor really is cornering the market in dynamic posing. Which normally I’m not a fan of, but in his sculpting, it really works.
A lot different to Bill T’s original ranges for Footsore (Musketeer as was).

Not sure if they will "blend" with the existing Saxon and Norman ranges, as the sculpting style is so different.
I can see them being used as well for role playing or skirmish games. They have that heroic feel to them.

Those are really nice. Dynamic poses, fairly realistic proportions.
I'm going to have to reread about Saxon huscarls. I'm trying to remember it all off the top of my head and I think some were hired/employed who were foreigners. I know Saxons (late period - close to 1066) had shorter hair and were clean shaven, for the most part. So how many were Anglo-Danes in the sense of being very foreign appearing - look what a couple of generations of immigrants living in another country does for how the grandchildren adopt local customs as opposed to keeping the old. (I know, the more different the home culture, the more differences - but culturally there isn't much difference between Anglo-Saxons and Danes.)
These guys could be used for Norsemen (Vikings) and Varangian Guards.
It would be nice to see how they size up to the new Victrix Vikings and the Foundry and Blacktree Design Vikings.
