Nurgle Poxwalkers
« on: July 15, 2019, 09:40:22 AM »
The kids need loads of these for 40k so guess who get's the job to paint them :-)

Seemed like a good set of models to try the new Citadel Contrast paints on with the hope that they'd speed things up somewhat. They definitely did that - I nearly finished 11 of these yesterday in one sitting. These four dried quickly enough to complete the bases on too so they get a picture.

I really like these paints actually - really high saturation at very high dilution. Not sure I'm using them 'right' but great for this sort of work. Just blobbed in a few ivory, orange and teal highlights to tidy things up and give the impression of detail. They also work well if you apply them and then wipe most off with a finger (the bone bits were just this with the Snakebite Leather colour).

That is some remarkable result, for such a short time painting! 8)

I've already done a few of these guys (without contrast paints), so I will stick with that method for the rest. But between your results and those of Hobgoblin's with these new paints, I'm more and more convinced they're interesting enough to at least try... ;)

Amazingly different to most photos I have seen of contrast paints in action, which tend to look badly stained. Did you use the straight from the pot as advertised, or add a medium?

I am kind of tempted to give them a try, but man, those price tags are a bit offputting. Your results have me confused.  ::)

This is what happens when you take a tool and give it to someone who knows how to make the very best use of it.

Great result, and proves these paints do have some good uses they can be put to.

These are fantastic! I’ve just bought some of these to try out the contrast paints on, what tone did you use for the skin?

Guiliiman flesh for the most part but also swished around a fair few of the other colours on the pallette. Sometimes used the Contrast Medium to thin and other times water.
Multiple layers work well to pump up the intensity.

Wow, those came out really nice Keith. All the vids I have seen using GW contrast paints look pretty crap to be honest. Sure, fast, but quality poor. Somehow you seem to have master the approach...so I think a 'how to' vid from you is in order! You can do it, as you have extra free time now your an ultra fast painter!  ;D
