As the truck reverses out of the killing zone, it's driver gets slotted by one of the Chechen snipers.

Russian reinforcements quickly take advantage of the cover it afforded them.

As the Chechen T-55 slowly advanced, it came under a hail of machine gun and RPG fire.

Russian infantry redeploy across the main street, as the second BTR comes up to support.

In turn, the Chechen T-55 fires at the BTR and immobilizes the lead vehicle.

The T-55 delivers the killing blow to the BTR, which subsequently billows thick black smoke down the main street.

While yet another Wolf Pack arrives via VW Combi, eager to press onto the central position with the smoke screening their advance.

Seeing even more comrades arrive, Chechen fire intensifies.

Smelling the Russian blood, the Wolf Packs start to advance at speed.

The smoke provides the perfect cover for the Chechen advance, however, within this fire team there lurks a Black Widow suicide bomber with the intent of aiming her attack on the Russian command structure.

On the north side of the battlefield, Chechen snipers target the enemy from the tall factory building.

To counter the ferocious Chechen infantry attack, the Russians deploy a HMG in the sustained fire role, this weapon had good arcs of fire to the left and right of the position.

Russian armoured reinforcements arrive to lend support, this BMP2 guards the northern side of the defensive perimeter.

Excellent AAR.
I think you captured the type of fighting that went on at the time.
Love your set up. :-*

In an act of defiance, the "Black Widow" suicide bomber rushes the Russian held building......

.......detonating her suicide vest and killing 2 of the young Russian conscripts, but narrowly missing Platoon Commander Stepanov and his radioman.

On the opposite side of building, the Russian BMP2 mercilessly mows down several Chechens on the far side of the frozen river.

Russian reinforcements take the opportunity to break cover and engage a Wolf Pack with mass AK47 and RPG fire.

Seeing the Chechen infantry fleeing, the BMP driver guns the engine in pursuit.

Chechen resistance begins to faultier.
