I thought i might share some old scenarios i have written; they are easily convertable to the rules of your choice.  enjoy  . . . WEAVER REFINERY STATION.


1. INTRODUCTION


WEAVER STATION is an isolated, Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation refinery located in the stellar system of a numbered but nameless red giant close to THE EDGE (of known space). The system boasts only a single world, a gas giant 50,000 kilometers in diameter that has two  small, airless and rocky planetoids for moons.

WEAVER STATION is an orbital refinery, extracting petro-chemicals and other useful chemicals from the atmosphere of the gas giant refining and finally storing them in the orbital barges (there are 10 barges of 100,000 tons capacity each) via use of a small fleet of scoopships, smaller orbital tankers, orbital tugs and workpods. The refined chemicals stored in the barges are then transferred to regularly  scheduled FTL  tankers  for  shipment to  out-system  destinations. One
barge (100,000 ton capacity) is a designated re-fuelling facility for shipping.

WEAVER STATION is a 24/7/365 operation which runs two  twelve hour crew shifts for a six  month tour of duty. The work is hard, at times dangerous, but mostly just plain old booring. Pay and benefits are good to compensate for the long periods of seperation from loved ones and isolation from the rest of the universe. The station has regularly scheduled lifepod and disaster drills.

Communication with the outside universe is via these same tankers, which carry mail, medicines, consumables, luxury goods, other store, needed parts and etc, as well as rotating the personnel required to crew WEAVER STATION.

The station is normally visited by six  FTL tankers in a standard year; non sched ships are a very unusual event, with the corporation openly discouraging same.

So-called "frontier refuelling" by skimming fuel from the gas giant' s atmosphere is prohibited by the corporation, monitored by satellites, and enforced by security vessels. Any attempt to skim fuel here, is a violation of law and ships/crews attempting to do so are subject to seizure/ arrest and crew held in detention by corporation security until they can be transferred to a proper facility pending trial. All non corporation  vessels  pay for refined fuel and all corporation vessels
are refuelled and charged via vouchers!.

However, non-corporation ships declaring an emergency are allowed to approach the station and will recieve aide as required by law. Such ships are subject to boarding and search by corporate security personnel.

WEAVER STATION is the primary (and closet!) supplier of spacecraft and starship fuel MIDWAY STATION, a Interstellat Exploration and Exploitation regional hub facility.

3. WEAVER STATION FLOTILLA


A. There are ten  100,000-MT orbital storage barges for refined petro-chemicals and other chemicals in nearby space. These are monitored and patrolled by security but are normally unmanned.

B. There is one  manned 100,000-MT fuel barge in orbit also. This fuel barge is on hand to refuel any Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation shipping in need of topping off its tanks. Normal  crew assignment is 5 bods. Limited lifesupport and power. docking facilities for two  workpods, and automated fuel transfr equipment.

C. There are ten  1,000-MT stream lined scoopships operating out of the refinery. Each scoopship has a required flight crew of 3 bods. Not FTL capable! small crew area with limited commo, sensors, and lifesupport, small fuel supply for the powerful (6-G!) engines, multiple gas scoops, and large tankage for the storage of raw gases.

D. There are ten  1,000-MT non streamlined orbital tankers , each with 2 flight crew. These are fitted with necessary equipment to transfer refined chemicals and fuel from refinery tankage to the appropriate orbital barge. Limited commo , sensors, and lifesupport capability, 2-G engines supported by small fuel tankage

E. The refinery also has ten  50-MT non streamlined orbital tugs, each fitted with powerful manipulators and towing equipment. Fight crew of 2 bods. Limited commo, sensors and lifesupport, powerful (6-G) engines, and small fuel tankage.

F. Refinery has two  20-MT non-streamlined patrol craft assigned to the Security Division. Flight crew of 2 required, can carry 8 additional bods. powerful (6-G) engines suppored by adequate fuel tankage. Limited lifesupport, good commo and sensor arrays, armed with pulse lasers x 2.

G. The refinery has a full complement of 10-MT non streamlined workpods assigned to it. Flight crew of 1 bod. Limited commo, sensors, and lifesupports, 1-G engines supported by limited   fuel tankage. Each workpod is fitted with manipulators, grapplers, and other working gear.

H. There are ten  20-MT lifepods, each with lifesupport for 20 bods (1 pilot) for 60 days. Standard como, and sensors, automatic rescue beacons, automatic launch programming, and auto-pilot programming. 1-G engines and limited fuel tankage.


4. MIDWAY STATION


Three systems spinward (6 parsecs) is the important Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation regional  hub facility  designated  as  MIDWAY STATION.  MIDWAY  station  is  halfway  across
6 parsec  wide  and 15 parsecs long area  of  space (DAWSON'S GAP) that  contains  very  few
stars, none with planets or gas giants capable of providing raw or refined fuel for spacecraft and starships. MIDWAY is the shortest route to the expanding frontier and multiple resource rich star
systems beyond this area. Four parsecs out into the GAP, Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation constructed the MIDWAY deep space station, to first support IEE operations and later to service vessels travelling between THE EDGE and the new systems.

DAWSON'S GAP is the primary reason MIDWAY STATION is in existence, and why it makes a handsome profit annually for the Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation Corporation.

WEAVER STATION makes this possible.

Er, maybe I've missed the point, but where's the scenario? I see a background story, but nothing else, so maybe I've missed the point?

WELL, the scenario background is WEAVER STATION. now you have a place, all you need is a bit of imagination and you have a scenario. this location has  provided the  area for at least a half dozen subsequent  scenarios; terrorist takeover, piracy, revolution, criminal activities, medical emergencies, rescue missions, etc .
