Balkan wars reading suggestions
« on: December 09, 2019, 04:56:03 PM »
Dear all,

I am reading with great pleasure Hopkirk's The Great Game. I was hoping someone could suggest some similarly engaging book on the 1912-13 Balkan wars, something which could hopefully inspire some lively skirmish scenarios.

For example, does anybody know if Bekir Fikri's memoirs have been translated into English? What about Trotsky's correspondance, is it interesting from a military point of view?
I only have the very precise but rather dull army-level analysis by Hooton..

Richard Hall and Edward Horton are the best.  There are several newsmens'. accounts that are worthwhile also, especially trotskys there are other newsmen that describe on ground conditions and battlefield locations.
Stefanov's Ottoman Army book is also excellent.
