Scratchbuilt old western town

Hi, this is my first posting here, so a bit of an attempt to get used to this forum.
The buildings were all made from different materials and totally built from scratch from December 2008 to April 2009.

Could you tell us some details about building it? And what locomotives are you using?

The railroad stock is 1/48 scale Bachmann Spectrum 0n30 gauge (0 scale narrow gauge that runs on H0 scale tracks).

The beginning of the engine shed with two stalls (1mm styrene sheet and H0 tracks):

A little more timberwork for the roof construction done and put a first coat of paint on it. It´s yellow for corporate design of the railway company...









Doors and window frames will be black for contrast.


Interior is painted in smoked wood now.

Will you use it for gaming, or are they just beautiful model buildings in their own right?

These will certainly be used for gaming, though they weren´t yet. Too many different modeling projects since and a few games with other backgrounds only.

Thanks for all the detail and construction pics, again I have to say: one of the best scratchbuilt model buildings I've seen. 

And thanks for the comparison pics with miniatures: at least I could see that 0-scale works well with 28 mm figures.

I don't usually use emoticons, but if there were a 'speechless' one, I'd be using it right now....

Amazing work - absolutely amazing. That inspection shed is...well, amazing! Brilliant vision, exellent modelling, fantastic painting - I'm running out of adjectives, but you get the idea! What's even better is that it looks like a really good gaming piece - it's very easy to imagine a climactic gun-fight occurring inside that building!

I think others on the forum will echo me when I say - can we also have more close-ups of the rest of the town? The signage is really the stand-out for me - did you hand-paint it all? It really is amazing.

I have a question - actually, I have lots of questions, but just one for the moment. The female model that's in some of the shots, the one carrying a ball or something up in the air in one hand: what model is it? In other words, where did you get it? I ask, because I saw that very model just a week or so ago, and mentally ear-marked it as one to get for my Old West collection for use as a Soiled Dove. However, I had just had surgery, and was on some heavy-duty pain meds, so of course I really can't remember where I saw the mini. So any help on this would be appreciated.

And, once again, this is simply amazing work - what a great way to introduce yourself to the forum!

Absolutely outstanding work. I create a lot of scratch-built pieces for customers and I'm already raiding your photos for ideas! 

I also want to know if the signs are hand-painted or if you used some other method because they are the stand out detail of your town, at least for me.
