I've just spend an enjoyable half hour or so catching up on this amazing thread!

Great work to create a whole army Inso!

Cheers :) . I'm glad you've enjoyed the project :) .

Here is the first of the heavy weapon arms for the Servitor; the Plasma Cannon:

The focus will now be on the Multi-Melta :) .

Love it. The right arm with the Plasma Cannon looks great, definitely got it spot on with that one. Not so sure about the left arm though - could you perhaps show it from different angles? It doesn't look to have the same aesthetic as the body and legs, it looks a bit too different to my eyes. Otherwise it's great and a worthy addition to your army.

Cheers :) . I agree that it has a different aesthetic... that was the plan. By having the arm elongated and with a "tentacle" movement system, it stopped it from looking like a "human" type of arm and instead made it look more robotic. This was a deliberate measure to stop the Servitor from looking like an old Squat Exo-Armour (from the '80s). It also lends itself towards a mechanical/technical maintenance job because it is a more flexible "tool".

If you look at the previous page, there is a 360 degree pic(s) of the Servitor with his Servo Arm as well :) .

Okies - got it now and I did miss the previous picture on this - I see why you did the arm like that and I get the idea behind it but it still looks a bit off to me - maybe its the arm and the hand; the hand is still quite humanoid while the arm isn't - to my eyes, either the arm needs to be more humanoid to fit with the hand or the hand needs to be more robotic/claw like perhaps (or elongate the fingers to gripping tentacles) to fit with the arm. Sorry Inso, I can be a very picky bugger when I see something like that - best probably to just ignore me!  lol

Loving how far this Army has progressed and that I've been able to collect a fair amount of it, with hopefully more still to become available.

Overall I like the Servitor robot, but I agree that the left arm looks a little odd, giving a slight Orangutan-esque look.
Not an issue per se or a deal breaker and I'll be interested to see what it looks like painted up, but it's currently the only option for the left arm.
Is the Melta or Heavy Bolter going to be for the left side, allowing for dual ranged, ranged and melee and dual melee arrangements?

To answer your questions, the left arm will be the only left arm. The right arms are either a Servo Arm, Heavy Bolter, Multi-Melta or Plasma Cannon (as per the rules for an Engineseer's Servitor in WH40k). I am creating a proxy Astra Militarum army so I am pretty tied to what the options are.

The long arms may not be to everyone's taste so at some point, I may sort more "normally proportioned" arms... but it isn't high on my list (which is LONG  :o ) .

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.

No worries if you don't sculpt an alternative arm.
If I really want some alternatives; it should be on me, not you to realise them.
Had a quick play around over lunch with some assets I already had and guessed at some of the Servitor shoulder proportions.

That's a cool looking arm :) . For the use I am requiring, a power fist is a bit heavy (it needs to be more light-weight) but if you want a heavier one, then yours looks like it would work :) .

The Servitor and all its arms is now finished :) :

These will be sent off for casting once I have sculpted a rifle for another project (then everything will be sent off together :) ).

Cheers :) .

Although I will be sculpting other Space Dwarfs and things to go with them, the Servitor is the final sculpt for my Squat Army project... so I'm really rather chuffed about it :) . That sculpt represents the final part of a six year project...

... so I guess I'll need to be adding tufts to bases, varnishing miniatures and creating a scenic base for the army... and then this topic/blog will be finished :o ...

Hopefully, it won't be long before the recent stuff gets cast up and put on the Macrocosm Miniatures site :) .

I have finally got some of the newer casts and have cleaned and primed the first three :) :

These are two Astropaths with a random adventurer, in between them :) .

I have also received the "Predator hunters", their enemy and the small diorama that I made (all in good numbers) so it shouldn't be too long before Chris does something for them on his site/through Kickstarter :) .

The two Astropaths are now painted :) :

Just the Servitors to go now... but while I'm waiting for those to be cast up, I'll be painting a few other miniatures :) .
