Thanks for the comments guys, it certainly helps me keep my enthusiasm.
I havent really read the rules properly so I dont yet know if they are going to be a good fit for me, however as they fit with my current basing nothing lost if they end up being too complicated. Everythign I have so far or initially plan to get can also still be used in my Great Northern War collection so again nothing lost here. I can always try other rule sets if these do not play as we hope.
Marine0846 I have a bunch of Ebor Dragoons for the later period, all the troopers come without heads so great for the head swaps and I ahve already done a unit of Polish Dragoons for 1706. However the big difference for the ater period is they have cartridge boxes (plus the longer coats and wide cuffs I suppose) the cartridge box is too bulky to carve off. I am tempted by the Bohemiam Dragoons sculpted by Paul Hicks for Horcata miniatures.
The Anno Domini figures are lovely but the bases are not ideal for multi basing and at over £5 eachwould make this a super expensive unit.
On balance I think converting English Civil War/ Thirty Yeasr War Dragoons is my best bet.
