Here are some of the better painted examples of my Goblin army.
From memory, some of the manufacturers are Citadel/GW, Ral Partha (?), Mike Broadbent and Grenadier, all 28mm.
I don't think that it is a secret that Tolkien used the terms 'Goblin', 'Orc' and even 'Hobgoblin' interchangeably, sometimes within the same sentence! So with that in mind, you will see many models that were marketed under these terms (and even 'Ogres') that I just lump under the 'Goblin' name. The Trolls are just Trolls
Some of these paint jobs are old, maybe two decades old and as you will see, I went through several phases of Goblin skin colour over the years.
Phase 1- No paint job survives, painted in enamel green but I disdained to use undercoat.
Phase 2- Green, still influenced by GW
Phase 3- Going for the 'svart' look as mentioned by Tolkien, I used various browns
Phase 4- Influenced by the movies and GW paint guides I went for different coloured flesh but mixing with grey to get a muted palette.
Phase 5- (current) grey flesh
