Dead Lead and Rotten Plastic: A Zombie Apocalypse in 20mm
«

Some years ago I started working on a little zombie project. I undercoated some figures, constructed some buildings, searched for suitable rules. Then, as it goes, I moved on to other projects. This is my attempt to resurrect the undead and get enough stuff done to play a game later this year.
This thread contains mild nudity and some gore ...
The first nine zombies are from the excellent metal range by Elhiem Miniatures. Great poses and very clean casts with almost no flash.
The gentlemen to the left and right are from Elhiem, the lady in the center is a plastic figure from Dark Alliance:
All plastics, first two by Caesar Miniatures, next two by Dark Alliance:
'Sigh, why did I bring the wife and kid to this party?' (Caesar Miniatures)
Best, but unlike buddies (Dark Alliance: well-fed, Elhiem: slim):

More undead shamble forward ...
Think of the children (first one Elhiem, next two by Dark Alliance)
Still thinking of the children (Caesar, next two by Dark Alliance)
And some more grown-ups (Caesar, next two by Dark Alliance)
'One more feast, darling, and then we'll go on a diet ...' (both by Dark Alliance)

Has ist really been almost a year? Well - life, work (and to be honest: half a dozen new and unfinished projects) got in the way. Anyways, here are some more zombies based in groups of three and two.

Another outbreak has occurred ... and more undead shamble forward ...
The well dressed gentleman in blue must be my favourite zombie so far.
(All metal figures from Elhiem Miniatures except the one to the right who is a plastic figure from the Caesar fantasy range.)
Elhiem Miniatures again ... such a great range and the only 20mm metal zombies I am aware of.
Elhiem left, Dark Alliance right

And some special zombies types ... not a lot of them around at this scale.
Fatties or Tanks (left one from Caesar, right one is a boardgame figure)
Catch me if you can: fast zombies! (Dark Alliance / Elhiem / Elhiem)
Run like Hell! (Caesar / Dark Alliance / Elhiem)
So, how many zombies does one need? The answer, of course, is: more! But for now I think I am done, having painted 2 fatties, 6 runners, 32 single based shamblers, 12 shamblers based in threes and 8 shamblers based in twos.
Next up (in just a couple of days, weeks or maybe months): survivors!

Thank you.
The thing about a horde is, though: If you look at it in the storage box, you think: That's a lot of zombies! But if you place them on the table, they somehow are few and far between ...
