4Omm Peninsular War Collection
« on: 01 May 2020, 12:18:21 PM »
I have to say there are some impressive 40mm figures being shown on this forum and thought I would show some of my small but growing collection.  My journey into 40mm started with an interest in revisiting the Napoleonic wars (after having sold my 25mm collection some years ago), but not wanting to go for massive armies and wanting something more than a skirmish I settled on building my collection on the "Charge" rules and thought that 40mm was very well suited .

Infantry are organised in companies (16 x privates, plus officer, sergeant & drummer),

The voltigeur companies would be 12 privates, sergeant, officer and musician

And so the collection began.

Paul

Thank you for the positive comments gentlemen.

I am more of a collector than a gamer and am interested in buildings and terrain as well as the figures, quite a few years ago I had the chance to have some buildings made by Brain Riglesford, who did an excellent job and converted a number of figures for the collection.

Lovely stuff!

With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Brian is a genius, not heard from him for a few years, but like Mr Kipling he makes exceedingly good buildings.  A few pictures below, these are old photos, will have to take some new ones. Also, while I have had time, I found an old copy of "Playable Napoleonic Rules" so then I started thinking of basing and thought 36 fig units still look alright  and removed the chaps in coats, just using 2 uniform types. Ended up with 2 full battalions.

Very nice collection. It is hard to believe those conversions are possible. What are the buildings made from?

The buildings are made by Brian, who used a range of materials, wood, plaster, think the tiled roofs are resin.

They are very sturdy.
