Fistful of Lead Starfighters playtest
« on: 10 May 2020, 07:11:35 PM »
A Rebel squadron jumps out of hyperspace taking an Imperial outpost by surprise. Their mission, to take out the station's defences to allow the bombers to follow.

What they don't know is that the station is protected by a TIE defender ace and two TIE interceptors. The TIEs are caught on the landing pad and the Xwings damage the defender before it can even launch. The TIEs go for the Xwings but the Rebels split, with two xwings taking on the TIEs while the other two go for the heavy laser defences. The Imperials have one card per ship plus 1 card per heavy laser defence point (3).

The two Xwings that break off take out two of the laser positions pretty quickly, but the other Xwings are destroyed by the mobility and numbers of the TIEs. The defender takes one on in a dogfight and swiftly destroys it. The other is shot down by the interceptors as the heavy lasers can't fire into the dogfight.

The damaged defender gets an ace which it uses as a Queen of Hearts and it manages to repair. The two Xwings take a few glancing hits from the lasers but shields and astromechs keep them in the attack.

The TIEs speed gets the better of them though and they chase the Xwings down, destroying the flight leader. The last xwing manages a final attack run on the last laser, launching its photon torpedoes. The laser is reduced to one damage point but is still operational. The defender swiftly follows up and a blistering laser battle sees the xwing explode.

The Rebel bombing raid is cancelled and the Imperials arrive to refuel.

Thanks

It will give a new lease of life to my x-wing collection. I'm not upgrading to V2 but this should put them to good use. I only just realised today that I have 44 x-wing ships, a few more than I thought.

When are the rules (hard copy) going to be available in the UK ?
I don't have any Star War machines, but a file-box of space ships
await my paint brush, oh & the rules  (Of course).

Rules are getting an edit, then photos added. Then I have to finish the custom cards, print both and mail across the pond. All I can say is soon.

'Soon' works for me.
By the way 'Dirt cheap' also works for me, though I will
settle for the usual, 'Great value for the enjoyment'.

This sounds interesting.  I assume it is a new expansion.  I don't have Galactic Heroes but do have the core rules.  Will it be usuable with both?

Trev, same core mechanics, but it's own game. Easy to make part of a larger GH campaign, whic we'll be doing if conventions ever become a thing again.
Damas, Jim who? lol
