Alexander Hamilton at Yorktown PBEM matrix game II
« on: 15 May 2020, 12:45:34 PM »
Another take on our Yorktown game with a new umpire. Can Alexander Hamilton storm Redoubt 10 quickly?

And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

First turn saw my defensive volley go high while the Light Infantry sappers began to hack at the abatis. Something is wrong with our bloody dice today.  :(

The French walked into withering fire and apparently didn't have their sappers at the head of the column. They will be delayed while those lads hustle forward.

The second turn see both Alllied battalions stalled in front of the abatis.
The lockdown seems to inspire some truly silly arguments.

My lads in Redoubt 10 were all business. Fire!

Third turn sees the Allies getting a tad less silly and coming forward again. Scroll down for turn 3.

Turn 4 sees some confusion in some arguments, and withering fire from my Redoubt 10 into Hamilton's Light Infantry. Scroll down for Turn 4. https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/05/yorktown-ii-matrix-game.html

Turn 5 is now in the books https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/05/yorktown-ii-turn-5.html
A turn representing 2 minutes of combat took a week to resolve. Lockdown twists time in strange ways.
The French and Hamilton's attacking battalions are close to the redoubts but not yet on us with bayonets.

Turn 6 is done. The crew seems to have lockdown fever, the turns are going very slowly. The French and the Continentals continue their attacks on the redoubts. https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/05/yorktown-ii-turn-5.html

Turn 7 is done. The first French attack on Redoubt 9 is thrown back, while Hamilton is down with a wound and his troops mill around in front of Redoubt 10. Details here https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/05/yorktown-ii-turn-5.html

Turn 8 is due very soon. It came in but a player noted an umpire error. Good thing I didn't post it right off. Then the umpire was delayed by events in that alternate universe known as Real Life.... When it comes in I'll post it. I believe it involves bayonet fighting at both redoubts.

Turn 8 has been posted https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/05/yorktown-ii-turn-5.html

Both Allied battalions have been repulsed from the redoubts. French morale is shaky. How much fight do Hamilton's Light Infantry still have? Major Campbell has somehow fallen out of his redoubt.

Turn 9 posted https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/06/yorktown-ii-pbem-matrix-game-turn-9.html
The French battalion has called it a day and headed to the showers.
Hamilton's troops are thrown back from the parapet of Redoubt 10 again.
How much longer will this go on?

With only 2 players left in the game, it is moving at a much faster rate. Turn 11 posted https://corlearshookfencibles.blogspot.com/2020/06/yorktown-ii-pbem-matrix-game-turn-9.html
The garrison throws the Yanks back into the ditch again, as the bagpipes wail.
