Latest Caesarian Romans on a new look blog
« on: 01 June 2020, 06:29:59 AM »
Well I only refreshed the old blog layout in an attempt to overcome an imaging issue - tried a work-around which didn't really work. The original issue is all sorted now and the new look blog is a work in progress I suppose.

In the meantime if you aren't already sick to death of seeing my Romans rolling out cohort by cohort, then please feel free to follow the link for more of the below https://unluckygeneral.blogspot.com/2020/05/caesarian-romans-legio-xi-cohort-vii.html

Beautiful figures!

I like the blog write up and will definitely have to check out the other cohorts!

Nice color scheme. Good mix of irons and bronze.

Lovely work, and the shield designs and subtle weathering looks great.

I keep coming back to your photos. I really like how cutting the Warlord plume off makes them look better.  (The colours you used help a lot too!)

I have the Copplestone sculpted Wargames Foundry Caesarean Romans and this (cutting) should help them fit together better in the same army.

Thanks Wmyers and Plutarch64,

Funny, I just ordered a mob of the Wargames Foundry unarmoured legionaries. I'm going to switch away from this legion because I want two recently levied cohorts and have also ordered some leve unarmoured figures from Aventine to mix in. I'm going for an ill-equipped hastily assembled look.

They'll have to wait until I get back home - whenever that will be.

Really nice unit - I like the way you mixed shield colours and that some have iron helmets, it gives them a veteran look.

Great blog too!

I would be interested to see if you can mix in Aventine and Foundry. Aventine's EIR range is head and shoulders above my caesarean Romans. I am not sure if their Republican figures are smaller castings? Foundry have a pack of unarmoured Legionary characters which can give some variety to your figures.

Those look fantastic. I like the idea of removing the plumes from the helmets

It's going to be a while until I am united with my new orders. They will be shipping home and I don't know when I'll get there yet. I'll try to remember to post something about how they mix - a bit of a comparison. I'll likely elevate and depress the bases of the different figures to fudge it a millimeter this way or that.

I do that too but just elevate - a penny works wonders.

Never had to cut the bases off any. Yet.

Foundry’s republican Romans are smaller in size than the Caesarian range definitely
