To get a Grumman Goose is more    complicated  than it look´s  first.
The main  planes are to expensive for me they are abaut  25 till 40 $ because they are collectible and there are manny people they have not  paypal.
the secund problem is the shiping cost  25 till 30 $ are very hard .
So the  Grumman Goose will be abaut 50 till 70  $ fore me  :freak:
But I Keep on trying , I am a    maniac :D

but for the momend I have paint my first Pilot

That pilot NEEDS a plane, Grimm.

They must be less common overseas. I'll keep looking for one for you.

Which isn't much more than you'd pay for a plastic model kit here...

It may be the varnish but that slight glossy look is perfect for an worn out leather jacket!

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

The Grumman Goose looks very nice.

Just wondering if anyone knows what type of airplanes were used in the King Kong movie?

Hi,

This bit of infomation is from an article titled Original King Kong no match for Helldiver, by Robert F. Dorr  at www.armytimes.com

In 1933, film director Merian C. Cooper used O2C-1 Helldivers to swat the eponymous gorilla off the top of New York’s Empire State Building in the original “King Kong.”

Because no Helldivers exist today, aviation buff Jackson built two authentic, full-sized, nonflying replicas.

Cooper played one of the O2C pilots in the 1933 movie. Jackson, who lost 80 pounds to squeeze into the cockpit, appears in a Helldiver in the 2005 film.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that info on the Kong planes!  That's really helpful.  Now to search for some 1/48 Curtiss O2C Helldivers...

Grimm - you are right!  The shipping from the US for the Grumman Goose costs $25!!  That's really too much!

Grimm - your question about airplanes got me thinking...I know nothing about transport airplanes of the 1920s-1930s era.  I can only think of the Zeppelin and good ol' "Tante Ju" (Junkers JU-52)

Can anyone tell me what transport aircraft were in service during this Pulp era?

The Ju 52 and the Dakota where Planes of the 30ies. Planes of the 20ies where (mostly) smaller and often only had one Motor. Junkers made some, the Dornier Wal was a predecessor of the later Catalina or Grumman Goose. And then there where the giants - the Zeppelin Staaken (look at my Avatar) and the Do-X.
If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)

No, naught. Still searching. But there are some Card-Models in 1:50 available from Moduni, among them a Wal and a Do-X. I think I'll try the Wal unless I find someting more durable .

BTW - with Pulps Island Hoppers either the Goose or a Catalina are a must-have! On the other hand a Goose should be done in yellow with red snout and a bear-ish pilot ;)

The only reference I have found so far if "floatplane". Still digging.
