Pimping Sarissa's Village Church
« on: 05 June 2020, 01:47:51 AM »
The 29, Let's Go! campaign for Chain of Command was my incentive to upgrade my terrain and finally acquire a decent village church. Sarissa have added one to their 20mm range and it looked like the basis for a very decent piece of terrain. I've done some work to embellish it and you can follow all that in a step-by-step tutorial here http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2020/06/sarissa-20mm-european-church.html

It had its first outing in a game this week. Here are a few pictures:

I agree 100% with this sentiment:
"I like to see a building in this form as the base model to which I can add features that make it look a little less like one made from MDF."
Although I do not get to the level that you have done here: very nice work!

Really well done. People often bash on MDF kits, but you can get good results if you’re willing to put in some extra effort.

That’s a cracking build and spot on about the stained glass windows.

 Great work

I have done some improving of MDF kits, mainly roof tiles, and some extra gribbly bits to break up the flat areas, but this is taking it to another level.

I do really like the grey board parts of Sarissa kits they do a very good job of adding some 3D character to them.

Just read your blog post amazing detail
for your warping have you tried painting the same coats, of paint etc, on the inside of the building so that it will warp straight ;D

This is fantastic - well done.  :-*

I have looked at the Sarissa Church kits a few times and now I am really tempted to have a go.

Thanks, I should try that. I suspect it’s the filler that’s caused the issue, I should have primed the MDF first.
