Siege of Tenochtitlan/Crisis 2009
« on: 29 June 2020, 08:50:09 PM »
When I did my Aztec and Conquistador collection I was greatly inspired by a presentation entitled Siege of Tenochtitlan or Fall of Tenochtitlan that was done by Societe de la Grande Armee at Crisis 2009 in Antwerp, Belgium.  Beautiful pictures of that work were online for years, and I bookmarked them and put many in folders.  Unfortunately a few years ago my computer took a dump and all those folders and bookmarks were lost... even professional help could not recover them for me.  I have googled in search of a link to that collection/diorama, but without success.  Does anyone know if there is a link to pictures of Societe de la Grande Armee's Siege of Tenochtitlan?  Please share it with me if you can.

This is it.  Hope the link works.  And, indeed it does! I do Aztecs in 15mm.

OB, that's it.  Thank you very much.  I did my Aztecs and Conquistadors in 15mm too.  I was so impressed with the one done by the Grande Armee that I wanted to keep it to look at once in awhile.  If you are interested, you can see my 15mm Aztecs and Conquistador collection in a diorama-style layout at my vanity website at www.warin15mm.com

It's beautiful scenery indeed! The Societe de la Grande Armee has been merged with my local games club some years ago, and we still have it in storage at the club.

Every now and again it is taken out, and is still used. For example during our club's anniversary in 2016:

The page is in Dutch, but it has pretty pictures of the city.  :)

OB, thank you again for the link and for the very kind words.

Thorindil, it's wonderful to see pictures of that great table(s) without the Photobucket imprint over them.  Thank you very much for sharing them.

The white bowl for the removed hearts?  And, of course, every pre-Columbian city needs its sacred coffee pot!   lol

And what did you say about the front end of that nice girl in the glasses?  Should your mother be upset with you?  lol lol

What, who, me?  Well, of course I did.

Not a bother, happy I was able to find it.

I keep thinking about building an Aztec city.  I already made an Indian one.  Storage space is the thing that is stopping me.  The Indian one fills 3 picnic hampers.   The temptation remains strong-not least because Mike at Crom's Anvil has some nice boats that could be used.

OB, have you posted the Indian city?  I'd like to see it.  I have hoped that Blue Moon 15/18mm would come out with an extensive Indian Mutiny line of figures and terrain, but it hasn't happened.

Richard, perhaps OG hasn't released an Indian Mutiny line because it is such a niche period (despite some nice 25/28 mm ranges).  There is a rather nice Indian Mutiny range in 15 mm from Dixon Miniatures, still showing as fully available on their website.  I have many of their figures supplemented with a lot of Essex Mogul figures and a few other bits, mostly from Freikorps ranges but a few others here and there.  Alas, it has sat mostly unpainted for knocking on two decades, well, at least more than one.  But not abandoned!

I seem to have lost most of my Indian City pics but here are a couple.  I'm very interested in the Mutiny in 15mm too.  Irregular have some nice figures that go well enough with the Dixon ones.  Minifigs as well, selectively.  Perhaps we should start a new thread?

OB, they look good.  I'm tempted, but like most other LAF members I'll never have the time to finish the collections I already have waiting in line for the brush.
