Two Pig Iron Heavy Infantry assault squads and a pack of 2 Heavy Inf. closed helmet sprues; 20 lovely helmeted heads for conversions.

As usual, quick delivery and a thoroughly professional experience from the moment I placed the order via their excellent web-store until the package arrived today, 11 days later. Bolton, UK to Vancouver BC, Canada in 11 days, not bad at all.

By comparison I placed an order for in-stock goods with a US supplier before I placed this order, and I am still waiting for the US package to arrive.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

I’ve noticed that the package I receive from UK always get here in less time than those from the US. Also, it seem that the parcel from the US are more often "intercepted" by Canada’s  custom and I have to paid fees to get them…  >:(
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

You noticed that, too, eh?  Seems to be an advantage to being a Colonial! I must say, though, that, over the past year or so, my parcels were coming straight to the door at least 4 times out of 5, no matter where they were from.

My biggest question is 'Why do I have to pay provincial taxes and GST for items that are, one, not manufactured here and, two, can't be purchased here, either!' Whose jobs are we 'protecting'?

I have to say that I order from the US and the UK whenever I can't find a Canadian source, and I haven't paid duty on anything in years! Knock on wood.

My friend tells a story of crossing the border and being stopped at customs with some miniatures. The customs officer couldn't figure out what to charge him in duty and eventually settled on the "China Figurines" category, charging him more in duty than he paid for the minis in the first place.

That’s also true with most of the parcels I receive… and it did again today!  lol I just received a box from North Star containing the "Artizan’s One Day Viking Deal", plastic bases from Victrix and wire spears. It take 9 days from UK to here.

Imperial Guard Regimental Advisors

Imperial Guard Tank Crew from the collectors range (Horrid models)

All from the online store as the brick and mortar stores no longer carry any metal miniatures other than a few rows of stock they are trying to sell off, seriously, whats the point of GW stores now?

To sell small children things that they don't have the skill to assemble at inflated prices that make their parents turn blue

My biggest question is 'Why do I have to pay provincial taxes and GST for items that are, one, not manufactured here and, two, can't be purchased here, either!' Whose jobs are we 'protecting'?

I had that argument with a Canada Post customer service rep (and a Revenue Canada person) a few years back... and lost, naturally.

What really, really burns me is that Canada Post is the only agency or company that is allowed to charge an extra fee for collecting taxes and duty. Nobody is allowed to charge a processing fee for collecting GST/PST/HST - except Canada freakin' Post...

Getting back to order times, I've been spoiled dealing with GZG, Old Crow and other UK companies, with turnaround times of 5-10 days being standard. Meanwhile right now, I'm waiting on an order from a well-known American company who took THIRTEEN days just to acknowledge my web order and tell me it had been sent, and that was ten days ago and I have no package yet... Some of the order is Artizan stuff, too, so I'd probably have been a lot better off ordering direct from Artizan in the UK... Meh.

When it finally shows it'll probably get dinged by Canada Post for GST/duty, too, just to add injury to insult! (I've been lucky the past year or three, hardly gotten 'got' for duty at all...)

I've done most of my Artizan ordering direct.  I like the only 10% postage bit.  All straight to the door, as well (so far...).
