Vintage skaven 'Leader with Warplock Arquebus'.

Ebay SoL

Been after one for a while. (Mind you, when I won it I realised that when I started 'being after one', that was when I still gave a hoot about GW's latest rules, where a warlock engineer with a rifle meant something.  And before bits sellers started offering the placcy one out of Island of Blood.  But anyway...)

I'm fond of the new Seb Perbett style of GW's skaven, and I've been meaning to restart a skaven army with the Island of Blood box set - originally for 8th ed, but now for a Kings of War ratmen fan list.  Trouble is I wanted to support the local GW and buy it there, but couldn't quite bring myself to drop the £60 (and rising) on it.  Then new management flaunted it's lack of social skills and that was it: I went off to the ebay resellers.  And I'm glad I did - I've been picking up a bunch of nice, cheap bits and pieces. :D

Case in point: I just recieved a decent wee haul from ebay.

1 IoB placcy skaven warlock for said ratmen army.
1 WH empire wizard kit that I've been meaning to pick up for a while.
6 old bretonnian placcy archers, that may or may not turn up in an ASoIaF force.
4 Skull Pass gobbos which I just like.
4 vintage skaven plastics, which are the only things I'm not fussed about.

Also, the Gamesday 2011 skaven warlord.  Not as cheap as the IoB plastic warlord, or cheap at all, but I like it better; and I keep telling myself it's not much more expensive than a regular character blister from GW.  It helps... a little.
(What doesn't help are the other copies that turned up afterwards with much lower starting bids)

Well, a reet lovely haul arrived today courtesy of our very own Lowtardog.

4 Jewish Gunmen - that I'd been trying to find in order to begin a VBCW side-project that I was discussing here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=50383.0

A pistol-packing female of possibly 1960s persuasion, maybe from Artizan's 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' range or something similar

A 'Hasslefree Madge' loading her shotgun

A 'Hasslefree Kindred' WWI Hobbit infantryman

Some backpacks (marked 'SEA PACK' I think), 8 heads in seemingly navy-type caps (marked 'RND') and a head in a Brodie-style helmet, 12 various rifles, 4 maxim-gun type affairs (two together, the other two seperate, on stalk/mount things for use as anti-aircraft guns or something similar), 2 buckets, a fuel can and a small scenic base-type thing with 2 packs, a rifle and two ammo-boxes moulded into it that can be used as a marker for an ammo cache or similar.

Thanks Lowtardog, you lovely lovely Geordie you!

Went to semi-local convention. Hot lead in Stratford Ontario.
19 Copplestone African archers $19
33 Foundry pirates $32

10 painted Artisan Arab Irregulars $70  :-*

Spending less the a quarter of my budget....priceless
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...
