Building HMES Hermes
« on: 10 August 2009, 01:10:05 AM »
I have added a lot of construction photos of the HMES Hermes that was used at our recent open day GASLIGHT display game.

Here's the link. There are a lot of photos.

Cheers
Fuzzy.

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

I personally like the way the railing system was built and installed.
Looking over those pics, it makes em look like something you assembled damn quick, but still looked alot of time and effort went into it.
Looking damn good i must say and i will be sure to look for more.   :-)

That is gorgeous.  What did you use for the brass rail?  I have been wanting to build one like this and have the materials, except for the railing bits.
This is my boomstick!

Hi bluewillow.

The deck is balsa wood strips stained with GW griphonne sepia wash.

If you are interested in the tripods, just send an email to Nic. The preparations for Open day set the "official launch" of the tripod back a little but it is definitely available. I think Eureka were going to put a news item on TMP to let people know it is released. I am also planning on a variation of the existing tripod. Possibly called an overlord tripod with different upper legs so that the head stands taller and at a different angle. To be used as the command tripod for a Martian battlegroup.
