I love these 

For those who haven't heard (I hadn't until I listened to an episode of The Medievalist podcast recently) the 'doodles' in the margins of Medieval Manuscripts originated when the artists had to sharpen their pens which being made of feathers wore down quite rapidly.

I like that later on in the Kickstarter we do see a fearsome snail, they're always one of my favourite margin-doodles from manuscripts!
