All along the watchtower. (Now with paint.)
« on: 14 September 2020, 10:14:45 PM »
So I use the Fenris moulds for overpour when I'm messing aboot with resin, this means every so often I end up with a tub full of blocks to play with. This watchtower came about as I had the daft idea to replace the cardboard buildings that came in the old warhammer boxsets with something more substantial, I already had a couple of the tabletop workshop buildings for the cottagey things and just needed a tower.

Pretty sure I've been subconsciously influenced by the local defensive architecture for this one, the blocks on the lower level are deliberately inset as I like the effect. The top platform isn't attached yet; or even finished, it'll have wooden crenelations as soon as I've finished making them, most of the plastic has texture scored into it but it's refusing to show up for the camera, hopefully painting will bring it out.

I'm planning to get a bit more progress on this during the week, that's mostly what this thread is for, to get some motivation to finish the job off.

Fantastic terrain piece!

Looking forward to seeing it finished

Very nice. So these are resin building blocks you say?

Cheers all

Yup, I think the recommendation is you should use plaster, but I had resin and don't like wasting it. It does make it a bit heavier and makes any shaping you need to do a bit more of a pain, but it works.

Excellent work on that tower! And i reckon that the Fenris moulds really work well!
It could mix well with the rest of their Rubble City, congrats! And I sculpted the rest of the Rubble City! :D

An astounding display of progress from me today, we now have an upper platform to the tower, still not attached yet, just need to do some final tweaks and then it's procrastinating about painting.

And now it's painted, with a few chaps for scale.

Kinda tempted to do a bigger fortification now, maybe a martello-ish tower or full tudor artillery fort style of thing.

That’s come together well  :)

Might I suggest a subtle drybrush on the timber to bring out the detail a bit more?
