working my way through my old lead - suddenly Slambo!
« on: September 30, 2020, 11:10:39 PM »
Back when i worked at dark sphere I used to buy up all the old ral partha/citadel lead minis that people would trade in for store credit. This has given me quite a substantial collection of classic minis, And I figured it's about time I slap some paint on them.

The first mini of this project is this ral partha priest/cleric mini. still avaliable, I painted over the previous owners metallic enamel paintjob with something a bit more blue oyster cult.

I'll be picking a mini at random every few days.

I've been surprised a few times already this year by how good old figures can be made to look. By cubs and grubman’s work here on the LAF, by sleepysod’s Gothic Horror, Paranoia & Judge Dredd stuff on the Oldhammer forum and now by this.

Looking forwards to seeing how this thread develops.

I know I said old lead, But I am nothing if not inconsistent. So here's the resin Slambo resculpt from a couple of years back. I wanted to give him a sort of retro look, but keep him in line with my other minis, So he has a toxic green base, funky checkered armour, and more grime than an O2 academy set-list.

Cheers for the kind words about the cleric, I'm looking at some citadel warriors of law minis from my box of lead to paint up next -
Anyway, back to lead!

Me too, you should get your new stuff on the Painting Club (if it's a post 1999 miniature, of course!).

Indeed it is!
I would not even be able to see the detail that you have put into that figure without the blown up pictures.
Stunning!

Damned if the cleric’s face doesn’t look like Sly Stalone’s.
