A lot of my stuff these days is 3D printed resin, but the T-80 is a resin cast model from Empress Miniatures.

Those tanks, and that terrain, look just great!  I see some fantastic games in your future, especially with your projected timeline and background... ;)

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999

The Beginning of the War (imaginary conflict)

Geopolitical tensions have escalated throughout the 1990s, as a result, the Russian Federation has gradually strengthened its defence capabilities along the length of its western border.

Despite numerous requests from the NATO Alliance for the Russians to stepdown their military build-up, they continue to station increasing numbers of troops and equipment into the border region.

28th March, 1999

The NATO Alliance issue Russia with a warning of a planned occupation of the Baltic States. In response, the Russians launch an aggressive pre-empted invasion on Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, in an attempt to secure the warm water ports in the Baltic Sea. France subsequently takes the decision to reengage with NATO's military command structure, having removed itself in 1966.

29th March, 1999

After numerous failed diplomatic attempts, NATO issues Russia with a final ultimatum to withdraw all its troops back into Russia within the next 48hrs.

31st March, 1999

At midnight local time, the Russian Federation had failed to meet NATO’s deadline, forcing the alliance to lead forces into Eastern Europe to launch Operation Brimstone. During this large-scale offensive operation, NATO forces landed by air and sea in the Baltic States in an attempt to liberate them from Russia’s control.

1st April, 1999 (April Fool’s Day)

Russia officially declares war on NATO around 6:40 AM local time. NATO forces succeed in liberating most of the Baltics in the first 24hrs of the conflict, but their advance is stalled in Latvia, about 40 miles west of the City of Rezekne. Russia subsequently readied its military to repel what they considered as a counter invasion.

2nd April - 1999

The conflict quickly escalates when China, North Korea, the Middle Eastern Coalition and Pakistan join Russia, officially forming the Eastern Pact. Saudi Arabia, Israel, Japan and South Korea subsequently join the NATO Alliance in a counter action. Several other countries consider their position over the coming days, but all knew that now was the time to pick a side. NATO’s newest members, Poland, The Czech Republic and Hungary were all keen to support the military actions against the Russians. In particular, Poland opened up  a land corridor to assist NATO in their operations to retake the Baltic States.

The Cold War isn't thawing; it is now burning with a deadly heat.

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999 Batrep - The initial advance, sees NATO forces deploying MILAN anti-tank weapons into positions which provide good arcs of fire across the Latvian farmland. HUMVEEs then move forward cautiously, scanning the ground to their front.

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999 Batrep - As NATO forces advanced, the Russians suddenly appeared from concealed positions. A BMP-3 opened fire on the lead M2 Bradley, destroying the vehicle, but narrowly missing the MILAN team to its front.

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999 Batrep - In an immediate response for the attack on the Bradley, the MILAN team in the wheat field returned fire, destroying the BMP-3. Whilst elsewhere, the Russians started to escalate their deployment with armoured vehicles and mobile infantry.

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999 Batrep - The US Rangers on the right started to work themselves around the farm building in an attempt to outflank the Russian infantry. On the left, armoured units clashed, exchanging blows without either side achieving dominance.

Cold War Gets Hotter 1999 Batrep - As the orcs took the bait and advanced rapidly to meet the NATO force, a US forward artillery observer mounted in one of the HUMVEEs, called in a strike around the farm buildings, destroying a BTR-80, however, the other orcs were dug in deeper than an Alabama tick.

The first half is great!  No clear advantage yet, for either side.  Waiting for Part 2...
