Wofun
« on: 13 October 2020, 12:49:29 PM »
So, at 65, I am never going to paint the large Perry French and Prussian armies. I am considering selling and buying Wofun’s WSS and 45 armies. Any thoughts on how good they are?

I think they look pretty good, are reasonable costwise and the range is expanding all the time.

Indeed, but the Peter Dennis ones are excellent looking. The old ones don’t look as nice.

Thanks, I live in the UK.  I have been watching and commenting on your FB Posts.  I think that picking up the Peter Dennis series was a smart move on their part as some of the original ACW and AWI figures lack some uniform credibility.

I bought nearly all of his series, but the idea of gluing and trimming paper fails at the first hurdle.  I like the idea of these figures and am surprised it didn't catch on earlier.

I really want to like them, but to me they have the same failing as all paper minis.  They disappear when viewed from the side.

If you can live with the fact they are 2d and not 3d you should like them. I've picked up a couple of sides for ACW which I have enjoyed fielding - there is no way I was going to be painting any. I have made up Peter Dennis' Marlburian papers which look fine - I love the standards- but whilst quicker than painting still take some effort. I would expect the wofun figures to look great. Be careful not to apply too much pressure pushing into the bases, you may need to shave some, and maybe glue some in position.

That WSS setup looks good.  I bought all of his army books but haven't overcome my fear to make any up.  Are they easy to do?

The wofun figures do look surprisingly good. And if the edges are painted they look even better.

I have several of the paper soldier books and the complexity of cutting out has put me off. I have done top down paper armies and these were super quick to do, as all the cutting is straight lines.
