Looking for Crows for post-apoc game idea
« on: October 26, 2020, 03:49:50 PM »
Look, I'll admit it is kind of a horrible idea, but when all this has settled to where we have vaccines, treatments etc, so that we can game again safely, I would like to do a game where I have the players attempting to do stuff in spite of large hordes of birds.  A Corvid plague...

I thought I had found my source, but apparently, when Zombicide sells out of something, they never bother producing it again, so neither of the Murder boxes csan be found.

Any ideas out there?

There are loads of options!

From GW they have the Crebain (from Forgeworld for Lord of the Rings) and then in the AoS Beastmen living spells box there's a few sets of crows (I'd say these two are best for flying options). edit: whilst looking for links for the others I found a great figure/flock from Northstar that I'd somehow missed previously, should work nicely and provides a flying option: https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=11991

Reaper has a flock of crows: https://www.reapermini.com/miniatures/monster/latest/03479

Great Escape Games has a couple of great options, the Storm Crow for a bigger more warped crow and then the Murder of Crows for a set of 10 creepy crows, plus Corpse Carrion if you decide to expand to Vultures, despite not being Corvid!
(finding this link has reminded me that I still want half a dozen figures from The Curse of Dead Man's Hand for my Dracula's America project!)

Bad Squiddo offers Ravens, also sculpted by Phil Hynes of Bears Head Miniatures, who sculpted the crows for Great Escape.

The Reaper and the Northstar have potential.

The Crebain is ridiculous for the price - $33 plus shipping for two resin crow stands?

It's a start, though.

As I have found, Zombicide is also sold out everywhere, and is impossible to buy, with no sign of them being reporduced.  The best I have found is someone selling the originally $23.99 set for $79 plus shipping.

I understand capitalism, but come on.

Splintered light do 15mm ravens which serve me as 28mm crows/rooks/choughs.

Would one box of the Zombicide crows be enough? I backed most of the KS campaigns and I'm sure I have some around somewhere.

It might be - I can't imagine I would need more than 15-20, and there should be 15 in a box of the Zombicide.

Probably of no use, unless you want a giant graveyard...

One per sprue (at Salute they had a tree filled with ravens).
