The 12 days of miniatures - Advent Mini Painting
« on: December 02, 2020, 12:53:23 PM »
My partner and I decided to try to do something productive instead of consuming endless supplies of chocolate, so we're doing a different kind of advent calendar this year.

We selected various miniatures from our enormous supply of unpainted plastic & lead and put them in a wooden advent calendar for each other. I'm on odd days and Laura's on even days, and the idea is that we each paint up a miniature every other day. Batch painting can be a chore, so hopefully this'll get some odds and ends painted up and give us a little project to work on and keep our motivation up during these dark times.

To start with I received a mantic armchair from the Terrain Crate kickstarter. A nice easy start to the challenge!

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Bit of an update post. We've been painting lots of wooden things!

Day 2: Stocks (Laura)
Day 3: Notice Board (me)
Day 4: Dryad (Laura)

Read more about Days 2, 3 & 4 here:

We're now on day 5 and I have a Geralt of Rivia from Artel W Miniatures to paint up tonight - this guy is quite detailed so it'll be a challenge in places. He's wearing his 'Witcher Armour' from the third game, so I'll try to match the colours from the game.

What a neat idea.  Best of luck in keeping up with the days work!   Although, adding chocolate back might help your motivation.

It's the night before Christmas and unfortunately we've failed in our task. Work and other issues got in the way it seems but I'm still pleased with what we've managed to paint up.

I'll do a proper blog post on them tomorrow so keep an eye out if you have nothing to do on Christmas day!

You may notice there's 25 miniatures out. That's because Laura put the archery target and the training dummy in a single slot for me one of the days - she clearly thought we wouldn't have any problem painting these guys up!

I'm now on my Christmas holidays so I'll finish this lot off over the next few days. Merry Christmas everyone!
