Napoleonic French Collection*updated pics*
« on: 18 December 2020, 09:00:16 PM »
Hi
Thought it was time to catalogue what ive been doing with my 28mm French army.

Just trying to finish some Empress Dragoons ,there was other things in the queue but i couldn`t resist jumping in and painting them.

I struggled to find a make that showed them at there most dynamic at the end of the charge, the closest was Front Rank (beautiful figures with raised detail always make painting easy work)my worry was they are a larger cast than most but after speaking to Spike and looking on line i took the risk. And i`m so pleased i did they fit in really well( wouldn`t mix the infantry though).

The horses are slightly heavier looking (not enough to bother me) also a bonus for heavy cavalry. They only have a couple of poses that i really wanted and 30 odd the same would nt work so i test bent the arms to get other angles on the swords which i promptly chopped off and replaced with the steel thrusting type.

Cheers AL

This is great, especially that it's such a proper large unit. I'd love to paint the Empress Dragoons one day. Front Rank surely never is a bad choice. :)

More Guard Cavalry
The 2nd Red Dutch Lancers (plus a squadron of Polish lancers).Plastic figures from Victrix, not a big fan of plastic figures and the cavalry are just so light . Ive added a plasticard /steel base rather than a plasticard/magnetic paper base to add a little more gravity to them, although they stick to the box so well now i have to be carefull how i pull them free :-[ .

Also i dont see those lances surviving long term but they are such a part of the seperate arm that i didnt risk cutting them off and replacing them with steel but if i loose any i will have to drill and fix in situ .
cheers AL

Fabulous collection with superb animation and painting .  I can only imagine the time and effort needed to bring them to this standard.  The Line Lancers , in particular , caught my eye . The Young Guard units are usually involved in any heavy fighting on a tabletop . I’ll certainly follow any future posts .
