Witcher Rampant

Hello All!

I spent a lot of the last lockdown playing the Witcher games (In part due to enjoying the Netflix series), and ever since have been thinking about putting together some small forces for Lion/Dragon Rampant. Now that I’ve finished my Frostgrave warband, I figured there was no point in putting it off any longer.

I’m only planning to start small, some 12pt forces initially, but who knows where that will lead? My main focus will be on the Northern Kingdom of Temeria, but I will probably expand to include other realms, and eventually the big bad of Nilfgaard…

Anyway, some progress this week – some Temerian Knights – standard Perry fare with some further neck protection:

I’ve got these guys primed and the first coat of their armour done, but since it’s been a while since I painted any armour that wasn’t simply drybrushed (not knocking it at all, but want to test myself with this project), I wanted to practice, so hastily put together a Nilfgaardian -

He’s all HYW French, with the exception of the helmet, which is from the knight sprue – it screamed ‘Nilfgaard’! This is meant to represent basic infantry – I’m going to try and reserve the black armour for the elites, when I get around to them. 😊

I’m not relishing having to paint loads of those shields, though!

He looks excellent! I am interested in your comment about armour that is not simply dry brushed. What is the recipe you are using?

These look _great_.

Question... I see a lot of people using the "___ Rampant" rules for gaming in lots of settings. I've not really looked into it. Am I missing out? What does it do well that separates it from like Oathmark or Warlords of Erehwon? There must be something...people keep using it.
