Up to no Gouda!

The third game in our Zoom campaign of Muskets and Tomahawks saw the thrusting young Lt Wensleydale and his sidekick Ensign Gloucester attempt to halt a Huron raiding party fresh from burning a British settlement.  Mike set himself up as card meister (with more than a few Bruce Forsyth jokes) drawing cards and sending pictures via Messenger groups to the French and British players - which left me free to move figures and run the game.

Although the redcoats surprised the raiding party, the Huron were quick to respond and split their force, with all three warrior units scampering through the woods to the left flank, and the Canadian militia off to the right.  The British drew up in line and fired at a distance, putting a single Huron unit to flight.  Fortunately veteran Huron Old Pinconning  was to hand and rallied them with his ‘charismatic’ gift.  There then followed a tense cat and mouse game where the Huron succeeded in running past the British with just one casualty - Old Pinconning himself.  With the ‘my son’ intrigue, he sacrificed himself to avoid his only son falling to the muskets of the British.

Good fun and I think we’re getting the hang of the rules now!

Outrageous!! Those Huron nipping up the side of the board in cover of the trees.

It's almost like they used tactics ...

"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

That's what I would do; more out of cowardice than tactical though. :D

Wonderfully atmospheric table , those thickets work very well and look convincing. I have these rules but haven’t used them , we favour Sharpe Practice 2 .  Lovely painting on the figures , one of my favourite periods to game . ✔️
